After a few years of incremental updates and rising competition, Samsung has finally delivered a foldable flagship with meaningful improvements. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 stands out as one of the best foldables I’ve had the chance to use in recent times. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the unboxing experience and share some early impressions.

- Paperwork

The inner screen has got a huge upgrade to 8 inches and is a Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X 120Hz display with 2600 nits of peak brightness.

The main highlight of the device is the upgraded hinge which feels more tighter and robust. Samsung is calling it the Armor FlexHinge which combines advanced materials with an optimized design for increased durability and compactness.

The cover screen has been upgraded to 6.5 inches and has minimal bezels. Historically, it has been challenging to get work done with the Fold’s cover screen, but it has been getting better over the years. On Fold 7, most tasks can be completed even without having to use the larger screen.

It is fascinating to note how thin yet solid the phone feels when the screen is unfolded at just 4.2 mm. Even when folded it is barely 8.9mm. So it feels like a regular high-end smartphone when held in the hand.
The camera bump on the back does feel odd and causes the device to wobble when placed on a flat surface.

The cameras on the Fold 7 have been upgraded, and the main camera is the 200MP sensor found on the S25 Ultra. Aside from the lack of an upgrade in the battery department, there is barely anything to complain about on the Fold 7. One casualty of the thinner form factor means that the S Pen support is now completely gone.
The device looks stunning out of the box, and it is the best foldable phone from Samsung till date and could very well help Samsung re-establish their lead in the foldable race. The phone runs One UI 8 and Android 16 out of the box and the device will receive 7 generations of OS updates and 7 years of security updates. Wait for our full review to find out if it is worth upgrading to the Fold 7.
