TECNO PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold tri-fold concept unveiled

TECNO has introduced its latest concept foldable, the PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold, which features a dual inward-folding tri-fold form factor. The device offers a large 9.94-inch interior display while maintaining a slim profile and enhanced durability.

Key Features: PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold

Inward-Folding G-Style Mechanism: Departing from standard tri-fold designs that expose the display, TECNO’s concept folds the screen inward twice. This design helps protect the flexible panel when closed. For everyday interactions, a separate cover screen offers a more traditional smartphone interface.

Custom Dual-Hinge Setup: The folding system includes two hinges: a smaller waterdrop hinge that folds one section inward and a larger hinge that closes the remaining part over it. A locking mechanism secures the device without leaving gaps when shut.

Hovering and Folded Modes: Integrated into the larger hinge is a dual-camera module that supports angle-based positioning. This enables the device to stay open at various angles — useful for productivity or media use in a partially folded state.

Record-Breaking Slim Profile: When folded, the device measures 11.49mm, and when fully open, it reaches just 3.49mm in thickness — currently the slimmest tri-fold configuration announced. The engineering is made possible through materials like 2000 MPa high-strength steel and a 0.3mm Titan Fiber rear panel.

High-End Hardware: Though full specifications remain undisclosed, the concept includes a triple-camera system, a powerful chipset, and a battery exceeding 5000mAh, delivering a flagship-level experience despite the compact build.

TECNO’s Foldable Innovation Roadmap

The PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold follows TECNO’s earlier foldable concept, the PHANTOM ULTIMATE 2, which was showcased at MWC 2025. These concept devices reflect TECNO’s ongoing work in foldable hardware, focused on new designs and material innovations.

Looking Ahead

TECNO has confirmed that the PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold will be showcased at MWC 2026. Some specifications — such as the size of the cover screen, the device’s weight, and the chipset brand — are yet to be revealed.

The company is also expected to present additional foldable devices at the event, including potential updates to the Phantom V Flip and V Fold lines.
