Google NotebookLM gets featured notebooks with expert-curated content and public sharing

Google has announced a new update to its AI-powered tool, NotebookLM, with the rollout of Featured Notebooks, a curated collection of high-quality, shareable content developed in collaboration with renowned authors, researchers, publications, and nonprofit organizations.

According to Steven Johnson, Editorial Director at Google Labs, the update is designed to make it easier for users to engage with trusted sources across a wide range of topics. “One of the secrets to getting the most out of NotebookLM is assembling high-quality sources to help you explore your interests,” he said.

What’s Included in the First Set of Featured Notebooks

The initial lineup of featured notebooks covers both educational and practical content, including:

  • Longevity advice from Dr. Eric Topol, author of Super Agers
  • Expert forecasts for 2025 featured in The Economist’s The World Ahead publication
  • Life lessons drawn from Arthur C. Brooks’ popular The Atlantic columns
  • A scientific travel guide to Yellowstone National Park, with insights on geology and biodiversity
  • Global wellbeing trends from Our World In Data, a project linked to the University of Oxford
  • Parenting insights drawn from Dr. Jacqueline Nesi’s Techno Sapiens Substack newsletter
  • The Complete Works of Shakespeare, aimed at students and literature enthusiasts
  • A notebook on Q1 earnings for the top 50 public companies, tailored for financial analysts

Each notebook can be explored using NotebookLM’s full range of tools. Users can read source material, ask questions, get AI-generated answers with citations, listen to Audio Overviews, and visualize themes through Mind Maps.

Public Notebook Sharing Expands

Google recently introduced public sharing for notebooks, allowing users to publish and distribute their curated content. Users have shared over 140,000 public notebooks in one month, and Google plans to bring in more featured content from key partners including The Economist and The Atlantic.

Availability

The Featured Notebooks will begin rolling out on desktop starting June 14, 2025. Google encourages users to explore the new collections and contribute to the growing public notebook library.
