Dutch manufacturer Fairphone has launched its latest modular smartphone, the Fairphone (Gen. 6), succeeding the 2023 Fairphone 5. Staying committed to sustainability and fairness, this model uses more ethical materials, offers extended software support, and brings improved customization.
Fairphone (Gen. 6)
The Fairphone (Gen. 6) boasts a durable recycled matte body combined with Gorilla Glass 7i protection. It offers IP55 water resistance and military-grade drop durability.
The phone is slim (9.6mm thick), lightweight (193g), and designed for long-term use with a glue-free modular design featuring 12 easily replaceable parts. Its backplate doubles as a case, cardholder, finger loop, or lanyard for added convenience.
It sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate (ranging from 10 to 120Hz) and peak brightness up to 1400 nits. Eye comfort is enhanced with PWM and DC dimming. Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor paired with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 2TB.
The device is powered by a user-replaceable 4415mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging, reaching 50% charge in 25 minutes (charger sold separately). The camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 13MP ultra-wide lens with electronic image stabilization (EIS), and a 32MP front-facing camera with autofocus.
Preloaded with Android 15, the Fairphone (Gen. 6) guarantees at least seven major software updates through 2033 and comes with a 5-year warranty. Supporting Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 LE, NFC, GPS/AGPS, and dual SIM 5G, the phone features a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button for security.
Additional features include stereo speakers and a “Moments” mode that limits the interface to five essential apps for a distraction-free experience. The phone also supports Google’s Gemini AI assistant and extra tools accessible via the Fairphone app.
