Vi launches 5G services in Bengaluru

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced the launch of its 5G services in Bengaluru starting from June 11th, 2025. The company launched its 5G services in Delhi NCR last month, after the launch in Mumbai, Patna and Chandigarh.

Vi users in Bengaluru who have 5G-enabled devices will be able to access the new services. As an introductory offer, Vi is providing unlimited 5G data for users with plans priced at Rs. 299 and above.

For the deployment of its 5G network in Bengaluru, Vi has collaborated with Samsung to implement advanced, energy-efficient infrastructure. The network also incorporates AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) to optimize performance.

Vi states that the integration of high transmit power, multi-technology supported, and energy-efficient small form-factor radios contributes to a seamless 5G experience while utilizing green solutions.

In conjunction with its 5G expansion, Vi has also upgraded its 4G network in Karnataka. Over the past 10 months, the company has deployed 900 MHz spectrum on approximately 3,000 sites to enhance indoor coverage. Additionally, Vi has doubled its 2100 MHz spectrum capacity across 1800 sites and added 2100 MHz spectrum to another 1,000 locations.

The company has also increased its 1800 MHz capacity across more than 4,100 sites. These upgrades reportedly resulted in a 46% capacity increase since March 2024, aiming to improve connectivity in both urban and rural areas.

The telecom operator already said that it will roll out 5G services in all 17 priority circles, where it has acquired 5G spectrum, by August this year, which is part of a larger capital expenditure plan totaling Rs. 55,000 crore over a three-year period.

Commenting on the launch, Anand Dani, Business Head – Karnataka, Vodafone Idea, said:

We’re excited to bring Vi 5G to Bengaluru, a city that stands at the forefront of tech and digital innovation. With our next-gen 5G and enhanced 4G network, we aim to deliver enhanced experience to our users. Encouraged by the strong response and robust performance in our launched markets, we are committed to expanding our 5G footprint in line with growing demand and 5G handset adoption.
