RIM announces BlackBerry Bold 9790 and Curve 9380 smartphones



RIM (Research in Motion) has announced 2 new smartphones, the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and the BlackBerry Curve 9380. These phones run on the latest BlackBerry 7 OS. The Bold 9790 comes high resolution touch display and a keyboard. The BlackBerry Curve 9380 is the first-ever BlackBerry Curve smartphone with a touch display.

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 comes with a 2.4-inch (480 x 360 pixels) capacitive touch screen display with 246 dpi and a Full QWERTY keyboard. It is powered by 1 GHz processor. It is 11.4mm thick and weighs 107g. It comes with 5MP auto focus camera with LED flash and VGA (640×480) video recording. It has 768 MB RAM, 8 GB internal memory that is expandable up to 32GB with MicroSD.

The BlackBerry Curve 9380 comes with a 3.2-inch (480 x 360 pixels) touch screen display with 188 ppi, optical trackpad and navigation keys. It is powered by 806 MHz processor. It comes with 5MPcamera with LED flash. It has 512 MB RAM, 512 MB internal memory that is expandable up to 32GB with MicroSD. Both these phones come with NFC support and built-in support for Augmented Reality with Wikitude browser. The connectivity features include, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and A-GPS.

These phones also come with the Premium version of Documents To Go with powerful document editing features as well as a native PDF document viewer, BlackBerry protect, Social Feeds 2.0 app,  Twitter and Facebook social networking apps.

These phones would be available in coming weeks through various carriers worldwide. The specific launch dates and price would be available soon through RIM’s partners. The BlackBerry Bold 9790 would be available through authorized BlackBerry retailers across Indonesia from 26th November at 4,599,000IDR (US$510).
