POCO F6 specs surface: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 50MP Sony sensor

POCO is gearing up to introduce the POCO F6, the company’s next mid-range F series phone, globally soon. This will be introduced in China as a Redmi phone in a new series, and Xiaomi already confirmed that the phone will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3

Now the specifications of the POCO F6, the global version, has surfaced. According to Android Headlines who got old of the HyperOS source code of the phone with the model number “N16T” and codename “peridot”, the F6 will be powered by the same Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, which is a major upgrade compared to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 in the POCO F5.

The leak also reveals that the phone will come with a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor, the same sensor used in the realme 12 Pro and the iQOO Z9, which is also a good upgrade compared to the 64MP OmniVision OV64B40 sensor in the POCO F5.

The phone is said to feature a 8MP Sony IMX355 sensor for the ultra-wide camera and an OmniVision OV20B40 sensor for the front camera, which is likely a 20MP sensor. It is not clear if the phone will retain the 2MP macro camera from the F5.

Xiaomi Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 phone

The POCO F6 is said to use an AMOLED display panel from two vendors – TCL and Tianma. Xiaomi officially teased the Redmi phone for China with sleek bezels earlier today, so we can expect a similar screen for the POCO F6.

The Redmi phone with the model number 24069RA21C showed up in 3C certification in China, revealing 90W fast charging for the phone, compared to 67W fast charging in the older model.

Launch date?

The phone is expected to be introduced globally in April or May, after the Redmi phone is introduced in China sometime in early April. We can also expect the India launch alongside, and for the global markets, we can expect the POCO F6 Pro as well.
