realme GT5 Pro to be announced on December 7

After teasers, realme has confirmed the launch of realme GT5 Pro, the company’s next flagship smartphone, at an event in China on December 7th. The teaser says Capture Maximum.

The phone is developed under realme’s “No Leap, No Launch” philosophy, and establishes itself as a dual-engine powerhouse. It is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, and has IMX890 super-light periscope telephoto lens.

realme China CMO Xu Qi Chase said that the phone has the industry’s first stainless steel grid design, which is strong and wear-resistant and perfectly integrated with the radial texture in the lens, giving the overall appearance a natural look.

Due to the very high strength of stainless steel, the processing requirements and cost of this texture are also very high, but it is all worth it, he added. “When using it, users will inadvertently touch and play with the lens grid texture that has a clear tactile feel, as if they are playing with their own “mirror single camera lens”,” he said in a post on weibo.

With the support of Qualcomm and ArcSoft, GT5 Pro restructures the fundamental architecture of imaging and comprehensively enhances its imaging capabilities, edging towards the well-deserved title of “New King of Telephoto Imaging,” said the company.

In terms of hardware, the Sony IMX890 features a super large 1/1.56-inch sensor, surpassing OMNIVISION 64B by 76% and the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 by 104%.  With an f/2.6 aperture, it supports 3x optical zoom, OIS+EIS for powerful stabilization, all-pixel omni-directional focus, and edge-cutting technology.

The overall photosensitivity is enhanced by 215% compared to the Samsung ISOCELL JN1, ensuring excellent performance in low-light conditions and allowing users to capture clear and high-quality photos at any time. The realme GT5 Pro’s IMX890 super-light periscope telephoto lens is currently the largest and most light-sensitive telephoto lens in the industry.

The 50MP IMX890 super-light periscope telephoto lens, combined with the powerful OIS+EIS stabilizing system, supports up to 120x super zoom.  The IMX890 super-light periscope telephoto lens of the realme GT5 Pro has a manufacturing cost that is 4.5 times higher than that of a conventional upright telephoto lens.

Although this potentially makes it the most expensive periscope telephoto lens in the industry, delivering a superior quality imaging experience to users is a worthy exchange, said realme.

To fully unleash the potential of the flagship chip and telephoto lens at the main camera level, realme said that it has collaborated with Qualcomm to introduce the super-core imaging heterogeneous computing framework. When processing each image frame, the framework can invoke multiple processors’ heterogeneous instructions for synchronous processing. This results in a 44% increase in single-frame processing speed and a 10% reduction in image power consumption.

In addition, the super-core telephoto imaging system of the realme GT5 Pro supports DOL-HDR on the telephoto segment for the first time. Through the 2×6+1 multi-frame selection strategy and an ultra-high dynamic range with zero-latency HDR, it effectively addresses and optimizes scenes with a large light ratio, preserving what the eyes see while maintaining clarity.

realme has collaborated with ArcSoft to launch an optimized super-light telephoto engine that enhances the innovative imaging technology of the realme GT5 Pro.
