Apple has officially announced its special event on September 12th, after rumours. It says ‘Wonderlust’ and has an Apple logo in different colours, hinting at the new colours for the iPhone.
We can expect the new iPhone 15 models at the event, along with new Apple Watch Series 9, minor update to the Watch Series 8 and possible a new Apple Watch Ultra.
iPhone 15 series
The new iPhone 15 series is expected to feature thinner bezels, Dynamic Island, customizable action button and USB-C ports. There are also rumours of a titanium frame for the Pro models, which could result in a price increase.
Similar to last year, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to retain the A16 Bionic chip from the iPhone 14 Pro series, and the A17 3nm chip with a new modem should power the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models.
The 15 Pro Max is expected to get an upgraded camera system, since Apple is planning to add a periscope camera in an iPhone for the first time. This advanced feature is said to provide a zoom of 5x-6x, a significant improvement over the current models’ 3x optical zoom.
The new iPhone models are also expected to get braided USB-C cables with colours matching with the phone. Even though earlier rumours revealed Thunderbolt support, latest rumours point to USB 2.0 transfer speeds.
How to watch the event?
The Apple event will begin at 10AM PT (10:30 IST) on September 12th and the recorded content will stream directly from Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park. Apple is also inviting members of the media to the campus to watch the presentation in person, so we can expect hands-on experience after the event.
