Google Pixel 8a with 9 core processor surfaces in benchmarks


Google’s popular Pixel A lineup of smartphones is set to receive an upgrade. The Google Pixel 8a, which follows Pixel 7a, has appeared on Geekbench, shedding light on its crucial performance specifications. As per tradition, the smartphone is likely to be unveiled at the Google I/O 2024 event.

According to the listing, the Google Pixel 8a, codenamed “Akita,” will be powered by an under clocked version of the Tensor G3 chipset, accompanied by a Mali-G715 GPU.

The processor uses a new 1+4+4 cluster configuration, with a prime core clocking at 2.9 GHz and efficient cores clocking at 1.7 GHz. This configuration suggests that the device will deliver a balanced blend of performance and efficiency.

The Google Pixel 8a is also anticipated to come equipped with up to 8GB of RAM, promising seamless multitasking and exceptional app performance. Furthermore, it will run the upcoming Android 14 straight out of the box, offering users access to the latest Android version.

In terms of performance, the preliminary Geekbench scores reveal that the Pixel 8a managed to achieve 1,218 points in the single-core test and an impressive 3,175 points in the multi-core test. These scores hint at a capable mid-range device that can effortlessly handle everyday tasks.
