Spotify Premium prices go up in several markets, India not affected


Spotify, the renowned audio streaming service, has made changes to its Premium subscription prices in several markets worldwide. Daniel Ek, the CEO of Spotify, had previously hinted at the possibility of price adjustments, stating that it would be discussed with label partners.

The move comes as Spotify faces a competitive market landscape, and the price changes are expected to support the platform’s ongoing innovation and growth. With an impressive base of over 200 million Premium subscribers globally, Spotify has established itself as the most popular audio streaming subscription service.

Premium users enjoy the benefits of ad-free, on-demand music listening, offline music downloads, and high-quality music streaming. Existing subscribers in these markets will receive an email detailing the impact on their accounts.

In the United States, the new prices are as follows:
  • Premium Single: $10.99 (old price $9.99/month)
  • Premium Duo: $14.99 (old price $12.99/month)
  • Premium Family: $16.99 (old price $15.99/month)
  • Premium Student: $5.99 (old price $4.99/month)

The new pricing scheme will also be applicable to Andorra, Albania, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Spain, Finland, France, the United Kingdom, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Croatia, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Monaco, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden, Singapore, Slovenia, Slovakia, San Marino, Thailand, Türkiye, the United States, and Kosovo.

This doesn’t include India, which still has a starting price of Rs. 119/month and students can get it at Rs. 59.00/month.
