Apple sign multibillion-dollar Broadcom deal for US-made 5G components

Apple and Broadcom, a major US technology and manufacturing firm, have just announced a ground-breaking partnership to advance 5G technology. The goal of this multibillion-dollar deal is to improve wireless connectivity by creating innovative radio frequency components for 5G networks, such as FBAR (Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator) filters.

These expenditures are a part of Apple’s pledge in 2021 to spend $430 billion over the following five years on U.S. infrastructure and businesses. The collaboration strengthens Apple’s commitment to US manufacturing and job creation.

Apple’s partnership with Broadcom will increase funding for automation and training programs at the company’s Fort Collins, Colorado, facility, which currently employs more than 1,100 people.

In addition to providing direct employment for over 2.7 million people, Apple also indirectly supports an additional 9,000 suppliers and manufacturers in all 50 states and throughout the United States.

Apple claims that since introducing 5G technology to its devices in 2020, it has helped accelerate 5G adoption across the country, resulting in increased innovation and employment at businesses that support 5G infrastructure.

Apple’s partnership with Broadcom will be a major milestone in the development of 5G technology in the United States, driving expansion and introducing new opportunities for wireless connectivity.

Regarding the partnership, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO said,

We’re thrilled to make commitments that harness the ingenuity, creativity, and innovative spirit of American manufacturing. All of Apple’s products depend on technology engineered and built here in the United States, and we’ll continue to deepen our investments in the U.S. economy because we have an unshakable belief in America’s future.
