motorola’s 50th anniversary: edge 30 fusion Viva Magenta special edition back in stock


On this day in 1973, the first commercial mobile phone call was made, marking a watershed moment in the evolution of mobile phones. Martin Cooper, former Motorola VP and Director of R&D, used a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X to make this happen from Sixth Avenue in New York City.

To mark the occasion, new stock of the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion in the Pantone color of the year 2023 – Viva Magenta – is now available on Flipkart.

In January 2023, the company announced this special edition device with new material on the rear panel, made from soft vegan leather, and retains the polished sandblasted aluminum frame.

First Call at 50

To elaborate further on this momentous occasion, Motorola has reaffirmed its pioneering position in the industry. From delivering the world’s first commercially available 5G-upgradable smartphone to the first clamshell smartphone, we have a rich heritage in rewriting how people access and experience innovation, said the company.

In addition, Motorola has published a video titled “First Call at 50: An interview with Martin Cooper” on its YouTube channel. In the video, Martin Cooper discusses the first public portable cell phone call that he made.

Regarding the same, Martin Cooper, Former Motorola VP and Director of R&D said,

When I made the first public portable cell phone call on April 3, 1973, I knew it was only the beginning; that Motorola and the cellphone industry were starting a revolution in personal communications.
