Qualcomm schedules an event on March 17, new Snapdragon 7 series SoC expected

After rumours, Qualcomm has scheduled an event on March 17th in China to introduce its new Snapdragon Mobile Platform. The invite doesn’t reveal any other details, but based on earlier rumours, it will introduce a new Snapdragon 7 series SoC as the successor to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 which was unveiled last May.

The realme GT Neo5 SE (RMX3700) with Android and 12GB of RAM is said to have surfaced on Geekbench listing revealing the specifications of the Snapdragon chip SM7475. This has 1 x 2.92GHz Cortex-X2 cores +3 x 2.5GHz Cortex-A710 cores + 4 x 1.8GHz Cortex-A510 cores and Adreno 725 GPU clocked at 580Hz, according to leaker Digital Chat Station.

This will be the first time, the company will use a Cortex-X2 core in a Snapdragon 7 series SoC. The leaker says that it will use TSMC 4nm process tech, instead of Samsung’s tech in the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, so it should be more power effecient.

It reveals score of 1232 points of Geekbench single core and 4095 points in multi-core benchmark. This better than Dimensity 8200 and is almost on par with Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in terms of Geekbench scores.

In addition to realme GT Neo5 SE, the chip should power the upcoming Redmi Note 12T Pro series which will be a major upgrade compared to Dimensity 8100 in the Note 11T Pro series.

Since this uses a completely new combination of cores for a Snapdragon 7 series, it could launch as Snapdragon 7 Gen 2, but we should know more details when it launches next week.
