iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura to be available on October 24


After delays, Apple has confirmed that it will release the iPadOS 16 on October 24th. This will come as iPadOS 16.1 since it has already released the release candidate version to developers today. Apple will also release the macOS Ventura on the same day.

The iPadOS 16 brings new productivity and collaboration features, including Stage Manager for the iPad Pro. Later this year, Stage Manager will get full external display support with resolutions of up to 6K.

Desktop-class apps enable new capabilities optimized for the display on iPad Pro, there is Reference Mode that enables the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Liquid Retina XDR display to match the color requirements in workflows.

There are new features in Messages, Freeform, a powerful new productivity app, iCloud Shared Photo Library, Safari adds shared Tab Groups, New Weather app has beautiful animations, and with just a tap, users can see the most important weather information.

Live Text uses on-device intelligence to recognize text in images across the system, and the feature now comes to video, making text completely interactive in paused video frames.

macOS Ventura brings Stage Manager, Continuity Camera that uses iPhone as the webcam on Mac, Handoff for FaceTime, and there are updates for Mail and Messages apps.
