Instagram rolls out all new searchable map

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, announced today that the company will give Instagram users a new map experience that can be searched and changes over time. People who use the improved map will be able to look at the most-tagged places in the area or sort the places listed by categories like restaurants, cafes, and beauty salons.

By tapping on places that have been tagged in the feed or stories, you may explore the map and conduct hashtag searches. Additionally, you can simply type a business, city, or neighbourhood name into the Explore page to view results on the map. Users of the new map can share locations with several other Instagram users and keep their searches in a collection.

When you use location stickers in posts and stories, as long as your profile is public, that content will be included in the search queries on the new map. Searchers can press the Instagram icons to view stories or access the online profiles of firms they find intriguing because the map visually shows where the destinations are on Instagram.

With the searchable map on Instagram, now you can now find popular locations around you or filter by categories and see the map by:

  • tapping location tags in Feed or Stories
  • searching a city or hashtags in Explore

This is simply another step in Instagram’s strategy to develop into a one-stop shop for everything related to social networking, business, travel, and, well, life in general. For instance, Instagram this week gave its users the option to make purchases right in chat.
