Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary update brings helicopters, gliders, Airbus A310 and more


Microsoft’s highly popular Flight Simulator franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary this November 2022. As part of the celebration, Microsoft has announced a bunch of new updates to the game that will pay tribute to both previous Flight Simulator games and introduce new and highly anticipated aircraft types.

Some of the many new aircrafts coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator include:

Historical Aircraft:
  1. Wright Flyer
  2. Ryan NYP (“Spirit of St. Louis”)
  3. Douglas DC-3
  4. De Havilland Canada DHC-2-Beaver
Helicopters:

  • Bell-407
  • Guimbal Cabri G2
Gliders:

  • DG Flugzeugbau LG8-18
  • DG Flugzeugbau DG1001E neo
True-to-Life Airliner:

  • Airbus A310

Along with these aircrafts, Microsoft also partnered with the Halo franchise and 343 Industries to bring the incredibly detailed Halo Infinite Pelican aircraft straight into Flight Simulator. The 40th Anniversary Edition will be available as a free update to those who already own Microsoft Flight Simulator or play it via Xbox Game Pass.

In related news, the franchise recently announced Top Gun: Maverick Expansion to celebrate the theatre release of the movie, featuring the F/A-18E Super Hornet and three training missions.
