realme GT 2 Unboxing and First Impressions


realme launched the GT 2 smartphone in India last week, soon after the launch of its flagship GT 2 Pro. This packs a 6.62-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen, is powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC, and 50MP rear camera, and packs a 5000mAh battery. We got to check out the master edition paper white model. Here are our first impressions.

The phone has a 6.62-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen. Thanks to up to 1300 nits brightness, the screen is bright even outdoors, and the 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut offers vibrant colours. The phone also has MEMC and 1000Hz touch sampling rate for during gaming. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Inside the tiny punch-hole, there is a 16-megapixel camera. The earpiece grill is present on the top edge, which doubles up as a secondary speaker.

Power by Snapdragon 888 with up to 12GB of RAM, the phone has 8-layer heat dissipation structure that includes diamond gel, 4129mm² 3D tempered liquid-cooled VC and 3D multi-graphene and more that covers a total area of ​​up to 17932mm². It gets hot, but it is not too hot to handle.

The phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner. In the realme Labs, there is a heart rate measurement option that lets you use the fingerprint sensor for heart rate tracking. There is a small bezel below the display. The phone runs Android 12 with realme UI 3.0, and the company has promised 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches.

Coming to the button placements and ports, the power button is present on the right side, the volume rockers are present on the left. The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top. The phone doesn’t have an expandable storage. Unlike the metal frame in the GT 2 Pro, this has a plastic frame, so you don’t see antenna bands.

It supports 4K 30fps video recording from the rear camera, and the front camera supports 1080p recording. There is also Starry Mode, Dynamic Bokeh Portrait, Bokeh Flare Portrait and more features.

It has Paper Tech Master Design in White and Green colours that features a back cover that is made of sustainable Sabic bio-based materials extracted from renewable raw materials. This offers a good grip, but it might get dirty easily. The black version has an AG glass back. The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 65W wired fast charging that can charge up to 100% in 33 minutes.

Priced starting at Rs. 34,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model, the phone will be available from  realme.com, Flipkart and offline stores starting from April 28th.
