It is a small portable speaker that features a 360° output design, bright colour options, and has a maximum output power of 16W. Here is our unboxing and first impressions of the Mivi Octave 3 Bluetooth speaker.

Box contents and design

In the box, you get the following:

  • The Octave 3 speaker
  • A USB Type-A to Type-C cable
  • A 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio port
  • Warranty and User manual

As mentioned above, the Mivi Octave 3 speaker has a 360° design, which means the audio output should come in all directions around the unit. It is cylindrical in shape and is made entirely of plastic. The quality of the plastic is not very high quality, but decent enough for the price, and the speakers are fairly lightweight. It is IPX7 certified, so it should be able to survive an accidental splash of water.

There are rubber feet on one of the flat faces of the Octave 3 that help hold it in place when placed on a table, and all the buttons can be found on one side of the curved face. There are controls for volume, play/pause (which also functions as an answer/reject button for calls), power button, and a flap for the AUX port and 3.5mm audio jack. There is also a fabric loop integrated into the speaker that can hook up to a carabiner.

Audio Quality

The Octave 3 has a maximum output of 16W, and it appears to have two speaker units hidden underneath the cylindrical exterior. From our initial impressions, the audio quality is decent, with slightly weak bass, good mids, and not very good highs. The passive bass can move a good amount of air, but the bass doesn’t feel impactful or tight.

We did notice some distortion after 70% volume however, and at max volume, the audio quality is a mess. For a speaker under Rs. 2000, the Octave 3 does not stand out and performs similar to other competitors in this price bracket.

There is no real stereo effect, as it essentially functions as a mono speaker. However, you can connect two Octave 3 speakers together and enjoy a stereo listening experience.

Pricing and Availability

The Mivi Octave 3 is available in Blue, Black, Green, and Red colours and is available for purchase on Mivi.in, Amazon and Flipkart at a special launch price of Rs. 1799, and the original price is Rs. 1999.
