Garmin, a maker of fitness-focused smartwatches, has announced the launch of two smartwatches made for runners – namely the Forerunner 55 and the Forerunner 945 LTE. The former is easy-to-use GPS smartwatch made for people of all skill levels, while the latter is a premium GPS running and triathlon smartwatch.
The Forerunner 55 offers all-day activity tracking, wrist-based heart rate data, and also suggests Daily workouts based on the runner’s training history, fitness level and recovery time. It supports many advanced running features such as measuring finish time estimator, Cadence alerts, PacePro, and also suggests a recovery time before the next workout.
Other features include the ability to receive text messages, social media updates, emails and more. It can detect when an emergency incident has occurred and automatically send a message with their real time location to emergency contacts. Battery life is rated at up to 2 weeks of battery life in smartwatch mode and up to 20 hours in GPS mode.
The Forerunner 945 LTE is a premium runner-focused smartwatch, with features designed for more serious runners and athletes. To help with training and performance, 945 LTE is capable of syncing indoor and outdoor training plans from Garmin Connect, suggest daily workouts to athletes with run and ride recommendations based on current training load and training status, and more.
Users can plan and download routes to the Forerunner 945 LTE using the course creator in Garmin Connect, and it supports ClimbPro which can give users real-time information on current and upcoming climbs including gradient, distance and elevation gain. The watch can also give turn-turn directions to help users follow a route or course.
Other features include the ability to store up to 1000 songs from streaming apps such as Amazon Music, Deezer and Spotify. It also supports receiving smart notifications for incoming calls, text messages, social media updates, etc. Battery life is rated at up to 2 weeks of battery life in smartwatch mode and up to 7 hours in GPS mode with music and LTE LiveTrack
The Forerunner 945 LTE will have a price of $649.99 (Approx. Rs. 47,462) while the Forerunner 55 will be priced at $199.99 (Approx. Rs. 14,603).
