Western Digital introduces WD Purple 18TB HDD and 1TB microSD card in India


Western Digital, makers of storage drives, has announced the launch of two new products in their Purple storage solutions — a massive 18TB HDD and a 1TB MicroSD. These two products are designed for DVR/NVR applications, surveillance applications and for analytics appliances.

The 18TV HDD is optimised for NVRs,  video analytics appliances, and GPU-enabled devices the offer analytics applications. The HDD features Western Digital’s AllFrame AI technologythat enables recording of up to 64 high-definition cameras and even an additional 32 streams for deep learning analytics.

The Purple SC QD101 1TB microSD Card is a primary or back-up data storage solution designed for AI-enabled cameras, surveillance cameras and edge devices. It uses 96-layer 3D NAND technology that promises high endurance and it is weather resistant, humidity resistant, and an operating temperature of 25° to 85° C.

The WD Purple 18TB HDD will be available in October 2020, and the WD Purple SC QD101 1TB microSD card is expected to be available in November 2020. No information on pricing yet.
