Samsung SSD 980 Pro with PCIe Gen 4 interface, read speeds up to 7000MB/s announced


Samsung, a leader in NAND flash storage technology, has announced their newest NVMe SSD, the 980 Pro, that takes advantage of PCIe Gen 4. It boasts an impressive sequential write speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 5,000 MB/s.

The SSD is designed for users who require storage solutions for data-intensive applications like editing 4K/8K video content and graphic-intensive games. The SSD utilizes nickel coating on the controller as well as a heat spreader label on the back side of the SSD to ensure peak thermal performance.

The 980 Pro will come in three variants – 1TB, 500GB and 250GB models (2TB model expected to arrive later in the year). Prices will start at $89.99 (Approx. Rs. 6,620) for the 250GB model, $149.99 (Approx. Rs. 11,030) for the 500GB model, and $229.99 (Approx. Rs. 16,915) for the 1TB model.
