Google introduces tool to transfer Google Play Music Library to YouTube Music

Google’s music streaming services have been messy for the past few years with users split between Google Play Music and the newer YouTube Music. However, it looks like Google is banking on YouTube Music as they introduced a tool to easily transfer a user’s Google Play Music library, personal taste preferences and playlists over to YouTube Music.

The tool will be accessible when you download and install the YouTube Music app for the first time. Once the user opens the app, they will be prompted to click on the transfer button. Google will then begin transferring the user’s uploads, purchases, added songs and albums, personal and subscribed playlists, likes and dislikes, curated stations and personal taste preferences from the connected Google Play Music account over to YouTube Music.

Once the transfer is complete, YouTube will send a notification and an email to inform the user, and they can see their updated recommendations immediately on their YouTube Music home screen.

For those users who use Google Play Music for their podcasts, Google also added a tool to transfer their podcast library over to Google Podcasts. To do so, click here.

YouTube Music ad-supported will continue to be free while YouTube Music Premium, which offers background listening, downloads and an ad-free experience, will cost Rs. 99.00 a month. YouTube Music is available for download on the Play Store for Android and the App Store for iOS.
