iQOO 3 5G Unboxing and First Impressions — Off to a good start!


iQOO, sub-brand of vivo, today launched its first smartphone in the Indian market dubbed as iQOO 3. This is one of the few smartphones to ship with the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset and 5G support. It comes in both 4G and 5G variants at a starting price of Rs. 36,990.

The first device from iQOO stable sports a 6.44-inch (2400 × 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 20:9 E3 Super AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display with HDR10+. The display comes with a pre-installed screen protector as well. It has 180Hz Super Touch Response rate, which improves the screen touch scan frequency by 50% from 120hz standard. 

The iQOO 3 comes with glass build that attracts fingerprint, feels solid in hand nevertheless. This device measures 9.16mm in thickness and weighs around 214.5 grams.

It consists of Monster Touch Buttons on the right-side frame in-line with power and volume rocker buttons. These pressure-sensitive buttons can come in handy during gameplay, helping users to achieve quick multi-finger operations.

There is also a customisable AI button on the left. By default, it is set with Google Assistant. The iQOO 3 is powered by the most advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, a 7nm chipset with the latest A77 architecture. The entire hardware inside iQOO 3 is energised by whooping a 4440mAh battery with 55W Super Flash Charge Technology. 

The phone features an in-display fingerprint scanner that can unlock the phone in 0.29sec when the screen is on. With display turned off, it will take only 0.31sec, says the company.

The photography department in iQOO is taken care of 4 cameras –

  • Primary camera — 48MP (f/1.79) (Sony IMX582)
  • Secondary camera — 13MP (f/2.46) Telephoto with 20X Digital Zoom
  • Third camera — 13MP (f/2.2) Super wide-angle with 120° & Macro camera
  • Fourth camera — 2MP (f/2.4) Bokeh camera

The iQOO 3 comes shipped with Android 10 on top of iQOO UI. With this UI, iQOO focuses more on experience and adopt a minimalist design style. The iQOO 3 does have a headphone jack and is equipped with AK4377A Hi-Fi independent chip, a stereo 32VELVET high-quality audio DAC as well.

The iQOO 3 and iQOO 3 5G come in Volcano Orange, Quantum Silver, Tornado Black. The iQOO 3 4G with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs Rs. 36,990, 8GB RAM with 256GB storage 4G version costs Rs. 39,990, and the iQOO 3 5G with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage costs Rs. 44,990. It will be available from Flipkart and iQOO.com, starting from March 4th.
