Sony Xperia Touch gets Android 7.1.1 update with gesture controls and more

Xperia Touch

Sony is now rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Xperia Touch which brings gesture controls, portrait mode and more. The company had introduced the Xperia Touch back at the MWC 2017 event back in February and since then has spent a considerable amount of time listening to the feedback before pushing the update.

The update brings a host of features like the gesture control, Projection settings, Projection settings and more. You can now control the interface using physical gestures, so you don’t have to interact with it physically. Xperia Touch will now understand you’re about to use Gesture control when you simply raise your hand. Using the hand gestures, you can navigate to menus, control video or music and can even toggle mute on/off by holding your finger to your lips.

The projection setting gets a new Keystone setting that will help you project content without any potential distortion. In addition to the autofocus, the latest update brings in a manual Focus setting to keep projections sharp and clear. Presence earlier used to work only in the wall mode, with the 7.1.1 update, it will even work in the table mode as it automatically wakes up when you approach, so, you don’t have to push the power button.

It now supports ALAC audio format in addition to the FLAC, and it has the ClearAudio+ feature for auto-optimisation of sound settings. You can manually choose a left or right orientation for Android apps that display in portrait mode. The Sony Xperia Touch will get the Android 7.1.1 firmware update over-the-air.
