Facebook has launched the desktop app of its team-collaboration service Workplace, called Workplace Chat. The soft launch of the app was first reported by TechCrunch. Available for Mac and Windows, the Workplace Chat app features screen sharing ability like Hangouts and Slack.

According to TechCrunch, the desktop chat app has a dashboard that collects your conversations and offers text search, as well as sharing options for photos, videos, voice clips, emoji, and GIFs. It is compatible with 64-bit Windows systems running Windows 7 and above as well as macOS 10.9  and above. Earlier versions of macOS and Windows aren’t supported.

Facebook spokesperson, Vanessa Chan to TechCrunch said

This is one of the most widely requested features by customers, so we built it. The desktop app is still in beta and is being tested by Workplace customers who are providing feedback that we’ll use to improve the product before a wider rollout.

Facebook’s Workplace competes with Slack.

You can download Workplace Chat (Beta) for PC and Mac.
