BlackBerry Priv will not get Android Nougat update

BlackBerry introduced Priv as the company’s first Android smartphone with a slide-out Keyboard back in October 2015 running Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) and it was launched in India in January last year at a hefty price tag. The phone got Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) update in April last year, now Alex Thurber GM of BlackBerry Mobility Solutions has confirmed that the phone will not get Android Nougat update.

He however confirmed that the KEYone will get Android 8.0 (Oreo update), but he could not confirm whether the DTEK series – DTEK60 and DTEK50 will get any more updates so they also will probably be stuck on Marshmallow. It is not clear the company’s budget Aurora smartphone that was introduced in Indonesia running Android 7.0 (Nougat) will get the Oreo update.

We will have to wait for BlackBerry to reveal their Android Oreo update plans for the KEYone.
