Uber rolls out driver profile feature in India

Uber has launched driver profile feature in India in a bid to enhance the riding experience for the driver as well as the rider. Uber drivers can customize their profile by adding personal information like the languages they speak, hometown, city recommendation and even a fun fact about themselves.

The idea is to give riders and drivers some pointers to initiate small talk and engage during the ride. Tapping the driver photo will offer additional information about the driver in addition to their name and license plate. In addition to star ratings, the drive profile includes thank you notes and rider compliment badges.

At Uber, we are equally obsessed about driver partners and riders and as part of this focus, we are introducing a way for riders to know their driver partners better.  With the introduction of Driver Profiles, driver partners can personalize an informative profile to share with riders that spark awesome conversations and experiences. We believe it will have a positive impact on furthering trust and empathy between riders and driver partners.

Earlier in March, Uber ramped up its security measures on the Uber app for both riders and drivers by launching a Real-Time ID check feature which prompts drivers to share a selfie before going online to help ensure that the driver using the app matches the account that is there on Uber. At the beginning of this year, Uber released road safety features in drivers app in 29 Indian cities. In 2015, Uber added in-app panic button and the ability to send details of your trip and current location to up to five individuals.
