Samsung Galaxy S8 to reportedly use facial recognition for mobile payments

Samsung Galaxy S8

A latest report from Bloomberg about the Samsung Galaxy S8 states it will use facial recognition for secure mobile payment. The flagship will merge fingerprint, iris and facial detection to verify users accessing mobile services including Samsung Pay, added the report.

The company is also reportedly working with banks to “help them embrace” these recognition systems in coming months. Samsung has used facial recognition for unlocking devices in the past, however this move will extend the technology to support secure financial transactions.

If Samsung successfully adds this feature on the Galaxy S8, it will set the flagship apart from the current LG G6 and upcoming 10th-anniversary special edition iPhone. Apple is tipped to add an iris scanner to iPhone 8 that will allow users to unlock the device using their eyes.
