Google is updating Gboard for Android with bunch of new features to bring it in line with the iOS counterpart. The app will now offer automatic emoji and GIF suggestions, voice typing, new themes and more.

First up, Gboard for Android will now automatically suggest emoji and GIF searches in the suggestion strip as you type. You can now share GIFs in supported apps such as Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Hangouts and Allo. Next up, the app is getting voice typing feature that allows you to dictate messages directly to Gboard.

Last week, Google opened beta registration program for Gboard that added features like new theme selector, quick access to Google Translate and more. These features are now coming to the stable Android app. Tapping the ‘G’ button on the keyboard reveals a new Google Translate icon in the suggestions row. The theme picker has been revamped plus it gets a new Landscape section that lets you use your own background image while you can also download from 10 pre-made high-resolution landscapes.

Google had replaced Google Keyboard with Gboard for Android in December last year.
