UberHire car rental service launched in 9 Indian cities

Uber has introduced UberHire car rental service in 9 cities in India, following a successful pilot in Kochi. The service will allow users to hire a cab for up to 12 hours.

UberHire is live in New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Vizag and Nagpur starting today. The service will expand to more cities in coming weeks. The base fare for UberHire is Rs. 199 while minimum fare is Rs. 549 for 2 hours for first 40 kms. Post this you will be charged at Rs 2/min and Rs 13/km. Uber says that pricing and cancellation charges might vary from city to city. It must be noted that currently, UberHire supports only cash payments. The fuel charges are included in the fare. UberHire is currently available between 6 am-10 pm only. You cannot schedule a UberHire ride the way you can for normal Uber rides.

UberHIRE is one such product that addresses the unique commuting needs of riders in India, especially that of tourists, business travellers, senior citizens, and working professionals by letting them book an Uber and use it for upto 12 hours.

Last year, Ola launched Ola Rentals that allowed users to book cars on hourly packages starting at just Rs. 449 for 2 hours.
