Instagram has announced that it now has more than 600 million users. This means the Facebook owned photo sharing service garnered 100 million new users in six months as it has 500 million users by end of June this year.

Instagram had 400 million users in September last year and 300 million users in December 2014. Just yesterday, the app rolled out a new feature that lets you save photos and videos privately that can be watched later. Last month, Instagram started rolling out live video for stories and disappearing photo and video in direct messages.

Instagram wrote in a blog post,

A lot has changed this year, but the Instagram community and the diversity of expression it provides has remained consistent. And you now have more ways to share than ever before with Instagram Stories, live video and disappearing photos and videos in Direct. Additionally, with updated safety tools that give you more control over comments and other parts of your experience, we’re working to make Instagram safer than ever for connection and self-expression.
