Google Wallpaper app goes live on the Play Store

Google has officially released the Wallpaper app on the Play Store. The wallpaper feature which was announced along with Pixel devices is now available for any Android device running 4.1 and above.

The app lets you choose wallpaper images from five different categories: Earth, landscapes, cityscapes, life and textures. The collection includes beautiful wallpapers curated by Google from Google Earth, Google+, and 500px’s extensive selection of photos.

Android devices running 7.0 Nougat will can choose separate wallpapers for lock screen and home screen. However devices running 4.1 Jelly Bean through 6.0.1 Marshmallow can only select home screen wallpaper.  The app can also change your wallpaper on a daily basis based on the category you choose. Finally, you can also use your device’s default wallpapers as well as your own photos using the app. It also lets you check out links to see from where some of these wallpapers come from.
