YouTube launches own social network called as Community

With aim at helping creators connect with viewers, YouTube has launched its own social network called as Community. The Community feature will come in form of a tab to YouTube.

YouTube creators can use Community to post text, live videos, images, animated GIFs, and more, directly to their YouTube following. Followers can opt in to receive notifications for these posts, or can simply views these updates in their subscription feed, along with any new videos. Viewers will be able to see your posts in the Subscriptions feed on their phones.

YouTube is launching the Community beta with creators such as John & Hank Green, to AsapSCIENCE, The Game Theorists, Karmin, The Key of Awesome, The Kloons, Lilly Singh, Peter Hollens, Rosianna Halse Rojas, Sam Tsui, Threadbanger, and VSauce3. It plans to bring more creators on board.

Kiley McEvoy, Senior Product Manager said in a blog post,

Community is a special release for us because it represents the deepest product collaboration we’ve ever done with creators like you. We started by inviting creators in early to develop, in partnership with us, the tools they wanted to better engage with their fans.
