Garmin Fenix Chronos is company’s first luxury smartwatch with expensive price tag

Garmin has launched its first full-fledged luxury smartwatch dubbed Fenix Chronos with advanced tracking, fitness training, GPS navigation, heart –rate monitoring and more. Apart from standard notification alerts to step, sleep, calorie counting, the Chronos smartwatch can also measure and record activities like run, bike, lap swim, open water, SUP, row, golf and more.

The Fenix Chronos is made with premium jeweler’s grade materials, and boasts of high-strength and scratch-resistant sapphire lens, and features a 1.2-inch Chroma display with LED backlighting. It also has a 10ATM (100m) water rating, and all variants are designed to withstand any sort of damage, claims Garmin.

Users can download any of the free apps, widgets, watch faces and data fields through Connect IQ store in the Garmin Connect mobile app. They can even create custom watch faces using their own photos with the FaceIt app. Additionally, the watch gets alerts for incoming call, text, email and other notifications.

Just like Garmin’s Fenix 3 lineup, the Fenix Chronos also supports full multisport and navigational toolset. The omni-directional EXO antenna with GPS and GLONASS satellite reception supports better reception in challenging environments than with GPS alone, adds company.

The watch is also equipped with daily activity tracking technology and ABC (altimeter, barometer, compass) sensors. The Garmin Elevate wrist heart rate technology brings the freedom to monitor heart rate 24/7 at the wrist and the data can be easily recorded without a chest strap.

The smartwatch is claimed to offer battery backup up to 25 hours in UltraTrac battery saver mode, up to 13 hours in GPS mode and almost one week in smart watch mode.

“High-end design meets top-tier performance with fēnix Chronos,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of worldwide sales. “With luxurious materials and trusted Garmin multisport technology, fēnix Chronos is a necessary timepiece for anyone who wants to remain stylish through all of life’s adventures – whether its hiking through mountains, training for a race, or heading to a formal event.”

The Garmin Fenix Chronos will be available in three versions – Fenix Chronos titanium with brushed titanium band priced at $1499.99, Fenix Chronos steel with brushed stainless steel band priced at $999.99, and Fenix Chronos steel with vintage leather band at $899.99.
