Singtel introduces Singapore’s first 10Gbps residential fibre service

Singtel today announced that it will offer Singapore’s first 10Gbps fibre broadband service to residential customers starting this month. It was piloted for a selected group of customers last year and uses next-gen 10GPON or Gigabit Passive Optical Network. It also features four 1Gbps ports so that it multi-user environments such as home offices and large households.

“Using the 10Gbps connection, a 2-hour Full HD movie can be downloaded within 90 seconds while a 2-hour 4K movie can be downloaded in 6 minutes using a 10Gbps connection,” said the company.

It is priced at S$189 ( US$ 132 / Rs. 9,000 approx.) per month with a 24-month contract and includes, 10G Optical Network Router (ONR) and Wireless Dual-Band AC router. For limited period it also offers complimentary WiFi Mesh Dual Pack worth S$24 that expands home broadband network’s wireless coverage range, eliminating WiFi dead spots within your home.
