Windows 10 Continuum for phone adds support for the Snapdragon 617 SoC


One of the most important feature of the Windows 10 is Continuum, which lets you connect some Windows 10 smartphones to an external display to run apps in desktop mode. Now, Microsoft has expanded its Continuum compatibility list by officially adding support for the mid-range Snapdragon 617 SoC.

Prior to this, minimum requirements for a device to support the Continuum feature was to have phones powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 or Snapdragon 810 SoC that includes the two new Lumia flagships – the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. In addition, specifications like 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and at least 720p resolution, USB and Wi-Fi are important to access the Continuum feature. These are the most common specifications that are present on a large number of mid-range devices. Microsoft recommends a USB Type-C connector for a wired docking station, but it’s not a requirement
