Earlier this month Xiaomi confirmed that the Mi 4 and Mi Note smartphones will get the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update soon. Now the company’s MIUI operations manager has announced on weibo (Via) that the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update for these smartphones, including the Mi 3 are in final stages of testing.

He even posted a screenshot of the MIUI 5.12.24 OTA beta update based on Android 6.0, which is 518MB in size. As you can see, even though the ROM is based on Android Marshmallow, the MIUI 7 remains the same. Xiaomi recently released Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) preview for these devices in China and they have been pushing several OTA updates to fix the bugs.

This is definitely a welcome move from Xiaomi. Hope the company updates their older smartphones as well, since those are struck in Android 4.4 (KitKat). Xiaomi is expected to announce beta version of the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update for the international versions soon. OTA update of the stable build might take a few months.
