Apple records 93% growth in iPhone sales in India in Q3


Apple announced that 47.5 million iPhones were sold in Q3 2015 that ended June 27, 2015. India contributed for Apple’s strong sales as the country recorded a whopping 93% growth in iPhone sales.

“iPhone sales more than doubled in Germany, Korea, Malaysia, and Vietnam. We’re up over 85% in Greater China and in India, and increased more than 45% in several countries including Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Turkey.”

said Luca Maestri – Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in the earnings call.

Apple said that emerging markets overall grew 79% to almost $18 billion and represented 35% of company’s revenue. Greater China also posted a strong growth as iPhone sales soared 87% in Q3. India has been an important market for Apple and a recent report from Reuters stated that Foxconn Technology is in discussions with the Indian government officials to set up its first manufacturing plant in India. Apple CEO Tim Cook said in 2014 that iPhone sales have increased 55% over the past year. The company was involved in aggressive marketing in the country with print and television advertisements along with an array of EMI, cash back and buyback schemes.
