Facebook debuts “Say Thanks” video creation tool

Facebook has unveiled a new video creation tool that enables users to create personalized video cards for their loved ones. Dubbed as “Say Thanks”, the tool highlights the times you have shared together with them.

“Share a Say Thanks video with a close friend, your significant other, a relative, a coworker, an old friend – or anyone else in your life who you’d like to celebrate. There is no limit to how many personalized videos you can create and share.”

posted Cameron Ewing, Design Manager and Nick Kwiatek, Engineering Manager on Facebook blog.

The “Say Thanks” videos pull in photos and posts for a slideshow-style video that highlights the relationship between the two users. Users can edit which photos are included and then share it with others on Facebook. In order to create a “Say Thanks” video users will need to choose a friend and Facebook will automatically generate a preview of the video. Users can select a different theme and edit photos and posts that represent your friendship. The video is posted to your timeline once you click share and it can be accompanied with a personalized message. Also, the friend you have chosen for the video will get tagged and hence it will appear on his timeline as well.

Facebook had done similar initiative with “A Look Back” video in February that featured photos, status updates and life events of a user. The social network said that “Say Thanks” videos will be rolling out today globally on both desktop and mobile in English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish.
