Mentions app is exclusive only to verified public figures such as actors, athletes, musicians, and government officials. It makes  discovering and joining conversations on Facebook easier for these public figures. Another outcome of Facebook’s Creative Lab, the app lets them see what fans are saying in a dedicated mentions feed and start mobile Q&As. In addition,it helps the public figures find out what’s trending, get streamlined notifications, mentions from other influencers or media.

The News Feed is split into Following and Trending, which Facebook says will make it easier for celebrities to “add voice to the story”. At the moment, Mentions is available on iPhone to people with verified Pages.
