FoneArena was live at the Samsung Unpacked 5 event here in beautiful Barcelona and we were live blogging the keynote for you guys. We also managed to get our hands on the newly announced Samsung Galaxy S5.Check out our video below where we show you the cool new features on the Galaxy S5.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_cw_fisMKsOn the front you have a 5.1 inch 1920×1080 SuperAMOLED display which does appeal to the eye. There is a 2 MP camera on the front above the display and the earpiece and the various sensors. Below the display you have the home key, menu key and back key. The home key actually packs a Fingerprint Scanner underneath.

On the inside is a 2.5 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor which’ll serve in the global variant. Additionally, Samsung has also announced an Exynos variant. Based on the just announced Exynos 5422 chipset, it will have four Cortex A15 cores clocked at 2.1Ghz and four small low power state Cortex A7 cores clocked at up to 1.5Ghz. There’s 2GB of RAM on both devices. There is 16GB of built-in storage along with a microSD card slot supporting upto 128GB cards.

The main difference between the Galaxy S4 and the S5 is that the S5 is slightly thicker and heavier than the S4 and also the back cover is very different.

One cool feature on the S5 is the addition of IP67 certification which makes the S5 water and dust resistant. The battery capacity is 2800mAh which is slightly improved. On the back is a 16MP Camera with an LED Flash. There is also a heart rate monitor next to the flash which makes it the first smartphone to pack an heart rate monitor.

In terms of connectivity , the S5 supports CAT 4 LTE networks upto 150Mbps and high-speed 802.11ac WiFi with new MIMO(2×2) antennas.
The phone runs on the latest version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat with a new improved UX which seems better than the previous version of TouchWiz.

The Galaxy S5 goes on sale on April 11 in several markets across the world. Pricing has not been revealed though. India might be one of the first countries to get it going by the pretty quick roll outs in the past.
