Sony Ericsson Closing Facilities and Laying Off Employees!

After removing 450 employees from the payroll last September, Sony Ericsson is now planning to close down four of it’s facilities and lay-off 2000 employees worldwide.

The facilities that are planned to be shutdown are the facilities in RTP (North Carolina), Small Facilities(Miami, Seattle and San Diego), Sweden and Chennai. 2000 employees will be laid off and some of them will have the option of getting transfers to other places like Atlanta or California.

The process will take place in different steps, one at a time. This decision comes after incurring huge losses during the year. This maybe mainly due to the lack of competitive handsets from Sony Ericsson. Hopefully Sony Ericsson comes back with the launch of the XPERIA X10 which looks to be a very promising device. At least, lets hope that the employees get their jobs back.

    Its a proven fact that sony didnot have technology nor any brain to produce good phones in Sony .So they bought Erricsson designs and became quite sucessful and that went to their heads and started their walklman hangovers again into the phones which by and large didnot
    get fancy of I-pod crown.So now world over they are closing their facilities of Cell phones and laptops.

    Sony Ericsson must atleast think of what they are trying to sell to people. Complete BULLSHIT , nowadays. I always wondered why SE closed down manufacturing of W810i or W700i , which are only a few to mention. There are more. And now, it comes up with more embarrassing bullshit, W910i and similar phones. We pay around 15,000 Rs to buy these phones and all we get is a good looking but slim, delicate, stupid 3.2 MP Camera with no Auto-Focus,No Flash, No W-LAN .What’s the DEAL? What’s special? why should we pay them such a high amount to get a dumb and ordinary phone? Look at Nokia, they are doing far better. Hopefully, SE Yari has stolen hearts of some, again it lacks W-LAN, maybe they starting putting their heads into forthcoming phones
