In less than 48 hours of completion of Nokia World, The Nokia N900 is already up for sale in USA and is now available for preorder directly from the Nokia USA Online store.

As discussed in our Nokia World coverage, Nokia N900 is going to be the first Nokia mobile phone to run the Linux derived OS, Maemo.

Nokia is going to be available via T-Mobile for $649 which we think is a very good deal considering the amazing phone Nokia N900 is.

What do you think? Are you going to preorder Nokia N900 or play the waiting game a little more while? Do Pass on your comments.

Is is possible to get it from US to India??? I was thinking of that… will it be locked to the carrier and if so, can it be unlocked here… I would be thankful Vikas if I get your opinion on this soon.

Do you have any info if Nokia is planning to launch N900 in Inida?

  • Satyakumar

    Hi Vikas,

When it is going to launch in India ?

  • Satya

Hey Mr. Author, Please reply to KM as my question is also the same.

It would be possible since GSM bands are same. 850/900/1800/1900 MHz . But 3G bands would be different and would be useless outside the USA . Anyways India’a not got 3G so its fine ! But there is no info if the handset is going to be locked to the T-Mobile network in USA

650 dollars for a telephone/PDA?! Ouch. You can get a full featured laptop or netbook for a lot less than that, and have enough cash left over for several phones. The N800 and N810 were both at the 200 dollar level once they had been around for a while. The N900 looks like a nice device but WAAAY too expensive.

Yeah, Nokia’s have always been expensive. No, I highly doubt that T-Mobile has the smarts to offer this device, cos they hardly offer any decent devices in the US market, moreover the US market is slightly on the more ancient side when it comes to cell phone technology. I also doubt that Nokia will allow the phone to be locked to any network. Initially, they didn’t even want carrier modifications on the OS. ALso, if you buy it for full price, no one has the right to lock the phone.

The phone can be bought/pre-ordered on Amazon for $582, and on Buy.com for $560.00 I stupidly bought the Nokia N97, only to realize that this phone was going to be available a couple months later. Should’ve waited, now I have no clue how to get rid of my N97.

N900 is taking on the iPhone so it might attract only the geeks . T-Mobile is getting better these days. They got the HTC G1 , BB Javelin. MyTouch , Moto CLIQ :P

N97 is just 6 months in the market but already feels old LOL
