LG Wireless Charging Pad WCD-800 announced


LG has announced a new Wireless Charging Pad (WCD-800), successor of the Wireless Charging Pad (WCP-700) that was launched last year. The new charging pad is large to fit large phones that could be placed both in horizontal and vertical directions on the base cradle. This lets the users read messages, emails and view calls comfortably when placed in the vertical manner and they can conveniently watch TV and movies in horizontal way.

This is 75.8mm in length above the bottom bracket. It useselectromagnetic induction method and is also equivalent to the electric charger and is compatible with all devices compliant with the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) ’s Qi standard, the global standard for wireless power.   The charging area is double the size of LG’s previous wireless charger, the WCP-700.

The LG Wireless Charging Pad, WCD-800 is expected to be available first in Korea followed by North America in first half of 2012. No details about the pricing yet.
