Sony Ericsson launches barometric sensor app for Xperia active

Sony Ericsson has launched a barometric sensor app for the Xperia active and also a new code example so that developers can access this sensor in apps by accessing it through the Android sensor API. This app would let the Xperia Active users measure altitude differences and vertical speed. They already provided instructions and codes on how to create a simple app that could read data from the pressure sensor.

The Barometer can also use GPS satellite-based positioning capabilities to get a better location fix while using a map on the ground when you’re mountain climbing, paragliding, etc. Sony Ericsson Xperia Active users can download the app along with the sample code from the Sony Ericsson developer’s site.
