Samsung Galaxy Xcover rugged Android phone announced

Samsung has announced its first rugged phone, Samsung Galaxy Xcover, which is the new addition to the Galaxy series . It runs Android 2.3 and comes with scratch resistant display, and it is dirt and water-resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. This phone would compete with Motorola’s rugged phone, Motorola Defy that was launched last year.

Features of Samsung Galaxy Xcover

  • 3.6 TFT scratch resistant Touch screen
  • Android 2.3 with Samsung TouchWiz UI
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash
  • 11.95 mm thick and weighs 116 g
  • 3G HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA up to 5.76 Mbps
  • Wi-Fi n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, USB 2.0
  • 3.5mm audio jack
  • 150 MB internal memory and the expandable external memory up to 32GB with MicroSD
  • Waterproof up to 1 meter depth
  • 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery

Some of the specifications like processor is still unknown.The price is still not available, but it is expected to be around € 250 (US$ 355). It would be available in Germany starting this October.
