on April 11, 2011 – 4:06 pmOne Comment

Nokia E72 got a new  firmware update after a long gap from the 052.005 that was released last November. The new version 054.005 is now available as an Over the Air (OTA) update, but may require Nokia Software updater or OVI suite

Change log

  • SIM Lock 3.0 and B2B Certificate, phase 1 added
  • Startup settings baseline updated (wk47, 2010) (new dates etc.)
  • After a hard reset or on first use, Camera shortcut is replaced with Ovi Store shortcut in the Home screen
  • Removal of Ovi Files (service is now outdated)
  • Vlingo application removed

Some user have reported better battery life and better auto-focus in the camera. This update may take some time to reach your country based on your location. This update is only for the handsets that are not locked to a particular network.

Some of the changes I noticed in the 054.005 update:

    1. New email client (v 3.09.0) with default HTML support, though you have to download it after the software update. If you have the v3.02 (beta) cliet installed from betalabs then uninstall that before installing the newer version. Else all your mails will be lost on the phone

    2. Problem with the home key. You have to press more than once to get the menu

    3. Battery life much better even in 3g

5.Ovi files removed, as mentioned in the post
