Apple iPad 2 Launched

Apple today launched the all new iPad 2 in an event in San Francisco. The new design is thinner at barely 8.8 mm thickness and its so light at just 601 grams for the basic version. That’s makes us ask the question if tablets are going to as thin as razor blades in future. The iPad 2 still offers the same stellar 10 hour battery life as the previous version.

Here are the most interesting features of the iPad 2

  • 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD screen
  • New dual-core A5 processor for improved performance and stunning graphics
  • Dual Cameras – front-facing VGA camera for FaceTime and Photo Booth and a rear-facing camera that captures 720p HD video
  • PhotoBooth which  lets you apply fun visual effects, including eight photo special effects like Squeeze, Twirl and Kaleidoscope, to photos captured by either camera.
  • Available in 2 colors black or white
  • compatible with  iPad 2 Smart Cover
  • compatible with AT&T’s and Verizon’s 3G networks – GSM and CDMA
  • Comes with iOS 4.3
  • HDMI Video Mirroring with optional accessory

Apple CEO whose currently on leave made a surprise appearance on stage at the event  and this is what he had to say “With more than 15 million iPads sold, iPad has defined an entirely new category of mobile devices. While others have been scrambling to copy the first generation iPad, we’re launching iPad 2, which moves the bar far ahead of the competition and will likely cause them to go back to the drawing boards yet again.”

Apple has stuck to the same old prices for the iPad 2

It’s launching on March 11 in USA and bunch of other countries by March 26 [iPad 2 Launch Countries ]
