Google announces range of augmented reality apps and games developed with ARCore 1.0

The Walking Dead

At the MWC 2018, Google had introduced the ARCore 1.0 with some changes and additions that also includes support for more devices. While Google opened up the ARCore to developers, there aren’t many apps or games yet. Today the company has announced a host of apps and games that you can try considering you have a compatible device

In the gaming department, BANDAI NAMCO has launched the ‘My Tamagotchi Forever’ in which users can raise Tamagotchi characters while building Tamatown, a virtual town you can play in the real world. Another in the list is based on the popular hit show ‘The Walking Dead.’ The game lets you immerse yourself in the zombie apocalypse world and your mission is to defend your surroundings by fighting zombies in real-world environments. This is a real-world game and uses Google Maps API which was recently opened to developers. It’s currently in pre-registration on Google Play and is expected to launch globally soon.

Another in the list is the Tender Claws created by TendAR, a game that features Guppy, a virtual fish that responds to users’ facial expressions and survives by ‘eating’ other people’s emotions. The game is a combination of ARCore with Google Cloud APIs, which provides computer vision and object recognition. TendAR will be available to download in July 2018.

Other games on the list include Pottery Barn 360 Room View which lets you view furniture in your room to see how it pairs with your existing pieces. Ebay solve a specific challenge like what size shipping container is needed to send that product, and the app lets you visualize shipping boxes. Sotheby’s International Realty is another furniture based VR app in the real estate world, and the Streem app connects customers with professionals to solve household maintenance requests. You can access these games and apps on Google Play  (Available only in select countries).
